From ASCD, here is a very interesting and timely interview with Diane Ravitch. "If you create a bookshelf of the education writings of Michelle Rhee, Joel Klein, Michael Bloomberg, and Arne Duncan, it would be a very tiny shelf indeed. I am willing to bet that 10 years from now (or maybe 20 years from now), we will look back and say, What was that all about? Why were we willing to have the whole education enterprise directed toward an obsession with standardized test scores when we knew that the tests aren't that accurate? We made a fetish of testing. What we are missing right now are the voices that say so.."

Privacy Warning.

There's a site called Spokeo.com that's a new online, USA phone book w/personal information: everything from pictures you've posted on FaceBook or web, your approx credit score, home value, income, age, etc. You can remove yourself by first searching for yourself on their site to find the URL of your page, then going to the Privacy button on the bottom of their page to remove yourself. I right clicked on the privacy link as you must fill in the URL of your information page to be removed. You also have to give an email address so you can send back a confirmation that you wish to be removed. I suggest creating and using a hotmail account instead of your regular email. They limit how many times you can use the mail account for removal in a day. What Spokeo lists for free is scary, but for $2 someone can gain full access to your profile. Make sure your kids, spouses, and colleagues know to remove themselves as well. Remember that you have to click on the link in the email to confirm removal.  If you are listed more than once, you must remove yourself from each listing separately.
